It’s been another busy week for the BIWA Social Welfare Team & also our Committee members who met this week to discuss upcoming events and business.

At our Welfare Meeting on Tuesday, we had the pleasure of a visit from Maryanne Oomen, who took the time to come all the way down from Lovina, to tell us about the inspiring work she is doing with Yayasan Stepping Stones Bali.

This organization`s purpose is to provide holistic support for children born with clubfoot, from the very first diagnosis to the final steps of recovery. Their aim is to make sure that each child receives the right care, at the right moment, and that no child with clubfoot is left behind.

In Indonesia, 1 in every 555 children are born each year with clubfoot. Without early diagnosis and correction, these children will more than likely end up in wheelchairs.

We are so happy to let you know that we will be donating 3.5 juta (approx $350.00 AUS) to Stepping Stones to kick off our support for them. This money will go towards renovating their treatment centre to improve care for over 250 children. More specifically new mattresses – essential to ensure a bigger, clean, safe and supportive environment for the children being treated.

This is only a small amount, and we hope to be able to support them again in the future.

If this is a cause that resonates with you, and you would like help more, please reach out to us.

Because, every little bit helps.
