Australia Day Luncheon – What a Cracker of an Afternoon!
Yesterday we gathered at the beautiful Bullshead 101 to celebrate Australia Day with 66 members and guests, and it truly was a fantastic afternoon.
The venue was incredible, the food was absolutely outstanding, and the feedback we’ve received since has been wonderful. Add a fun Aussie playlist and a room full of great people, and it made for a relaxed, joyful and very BIWA-style celebration 🎶🍽️
Jane shared a few reflections on what makes our Australian membership such a valued part of our community — and what has shaped Australian culture as we know it today. From Indigenous roots, to convicts, to waves of migrants from all around the world, it’s a story built on resilience, humour, generosity and connection.
We also took a special moment to thank and acknowledge Melida, presenting her with our heartfelt appreciation for her many years of dedicated service on the BIWA Committee. Her commitment, generosity of time, and steady contribution over the years have meant so much to our organisation, and it was a privilege to recognise her in front of our members and guests 💐
