Helping people impacted by the deadly flooding

In the wake of the devastating floods that swept through Bali in September 2025, the Bali International Women’s Association (BIWA) mobilized a multi-day relief operation to support displaced families. With floodwaters reaching nearly three meters in some of the island’s most densely populated riverside areas, the need for immediate, hands-on intervention was critical.

Spotlight on Just One Day: Mobilization and Distribution

One of our most intensive days of the operation began with a truck loaded to the brim with donations. We owe a debt of gratitude to Pak Patrick Monsarrat, Chris Wood, and the staff at Global Health for their hard work in loading the supplies and ensuring we could get on the road early.

Our team—including Rezi Monsarrat, Maryam Rachman, Ni Luh Putu Suastini, Marjan, and Ibu Henny—partnered with Ms. Lina, owner of Srikandi Butik on Jalan Pulau Buru. Together with her tireless team, we navigated deeply submerged neighborhoods to deliver aid directly into the hands of residents who were still reeling from the water’s rise.

Delivering Essentials to the Frontlines

The distribution focused on survival and dignity, ensuring that families had the basics to get through the initial aftermath. The packages included:

  • Nutrition: Freshly prepared nasi bungkus.
  • Hygiene: Toothbrushes, toiletries, and sanitary essentials.
  • Health & Recovery: Medicine and cleaning supplies to help with the post-flood cleanup.

The Impact of Giving

While this was just one day in a larger mission, the emotional weight of the experience was profound. Despite the physical exhaustion of navigating flood zones, the BIWA team was fueled by the resilience of the community.

“Every moment was worth it as we witnessed the tearful smiles and heartfelt gratitude. The tiredness faded in the face of such appreciation, leaving only joy and fulfillment in giving and serving together.”

A Heartfelt Thank You

This ongoing relief effort is only possible because of our incredible network. We extend our sincerest thanks to our donors, friends, and the dedicated BIWA board, committee, and volunteers. Your support transformed a day of disaster into a day of hope for hundreds of families.
