Today, BIWA, represented by Ibu Dayu Soma, Rezi Monsarrat, Putu Cita, Yus Martini and Mary Ann Wood, attended an important health talk hosted and organised by the BIMC Hospital team, headed by Dr Meike Magnasofa, M.Med (WH), MARS, Hospital Director at the BIMC Hospital in Kuta.
The event was in collaboration with Palang Merah Indonesia (Indonesian RedCross Bali) and was titled “Save Lives, Starting With Yours.”
The session featured expert speakers Dr I Ngurah Arya Wicaksana, Sp.An-TI, an Intensivist from BIMC Hospital Kuta, and Ni Luh Putu Arista Apriyanti, A.Md.AK, Head of Quality Control Testing Section at PMI Bali.
They explained the differences between Rhesus positive and Rhesus negative blood, highlighting that over 99% of Indonesians are Rh positive, while Rh negative blood is extremely rare in Asia. The talk emphasised the urgent need for Rh-negative donors and encouraged participants to get tested and join the donor contact list to help save lives.
The session also highlighted the critical importance of blood donation, with a special focus on the urgent need for Rhesus-negative blood, which is rare and often difficult to source during emergencies.
Medical experts shared valuable insights on how community participation can directly save lives and support emergency preparedness.
