The Social Welfare Team met today to discuss monthly business.
Amongst items discussed were funding requests by a number of organisations that are looking towards BIWA for help in the not too distant future.
Of these organizations, one came to speak to us today to explain what they do. Ibu Wimega from Yayasan Sunari Bulan travelled all the way from Lipa, just near Amed to speak to us.
This Yayasan does an incredible job in the community across a number of areas.
Their projects include medical care & advice to those without financial means or insurance.
They provide English lessons to students in grades 4 to 6 across not one but four primary schools in the Desa Bunutan area. These lessons significantly increase opportunities for the children to persue higher education & therefore higher paying jobs in the tourism industry, helping them to move beyond the minimum wage zone.
They also provide regular food supplies to nine families in Lipah that are in dire need of help, and who are unable to support themselves due to physical or mental health issues within the household.
They are also committed to improving the daily lives of the most vulnerable by providing essential household items.
I have only touched on some of the work they do. Their work is extensive and ongoing.
In the future, BIWA will look to support this worthy organisation in ways that it can.
If this is a cause that reasonates with you, and you would like to contribute in even a small way, please reach out.
Because, every little bit helps ![]()
